Plastic Pollution Dataviz by Florent Lavergne

Plastic pollution is a reality for our planet and a thematic to which you have probably already been exposed in your life. Florent Lavergne was in charge of the design of this data visualization piece seeking to raise awareness of poorly managed plastics that end up in rivers and oceans where they accumulate and damage biodiversity in irreversible ways.

The images below show the daily amount of plastic generated by each country in 2010. The red lines represent the coastal population density while the circles represent the amount of mishandled plastic.

A strong correlation between population size and plastic generation is observed.
